Must see video of a developer of Prey, but in 1998.

PS I am not here to bash Ep2 or Portal... just showing you this because it made in awe...

Please stop with this thing! Portal is far more original and completely different game than Prey...

The amusing thing about that clip is the fact that they dropped their awesome engine and went with the D3 one which pretty much curtailed all their ambitions. Still no Portal gun though so the jury is out.

You should actually link to Quake 1 then since it was doing the portal thing waaaay back then (in a mod though but technically it was Q1). If you want to be picky, you can of course find some related whitepaper from late 70's which bases the whole thing on raytracing/raycasting which goes all the way back to the 50's.

So yea, just let it be. Prey wasn't the first and won't be the last. Portal is a puzzle game, Prey is a (imo crappy) shooter. That's like comparing a Rubik's cube to a race track.

Wasn't it only done in a quake 1 mod though? If so then it does not really count.

The engine was the same and back then they couldn't afaik code for Quake 1 itself at all (plugs like QuakeWorld not counting of course).

Seen it before, couldn't care less. Did you see such a thing in Prey? Did you? No, you didn't. I don't care.
Locked.
