My hope was to have this book two months ago and start modding over the summer. Oh well...
Yes, I could just go to some websites and follow the tutorials there...but I think the book would be more fun. ;)

It was first supposed to be out around the same time as Raising the Bar.
Then it was delayed to around April of this year.
Then it was delayed again to a publishing date of June 1st.
Now it's been delayed again until August.
I think we'll be lucky to get this thing by Christmas...

The book > Interlopers.
I'm talking in terms of handyness too.

True, you don't need the book in order to mod Half-Life 2. Just like you don't need a book to do any other kind of programming.
But it's still nice to have something like that in front of you. Books tend to be more organized than the tutorials on the web anyway.
I also view this book as kind of a collector's item, much like Raising the Bar.

to be honest, books are harder to do PC work out of than a webpage

Maybe for someone who knows what they're doing. But for beginners like me, a book can seem less overwhelming.

I'd just prefer to work from a book. It's a matter of preference.
