Um, how is it priceless? You guys do realize that EA's role with Valve is basically putting the game GCFs onto discs, putting discs into the box, and putting boxes onto the shelves, right?

The joke is that EA always buys up every company. So IGN asked if EA was going to buy Valve. The girl said that Valve had no plans of buying EA.

That was the joke.

It is a stand-alone game that will provide an extra three hours of gameplay to the HL2: Episode 2 game package.

So it's only 3 hours of gameplay? Well, sounds resonable to me, since it is coming with Episode 2.

Valve Studios? Valve STUDIOS?

Last time I checked, they were Valve Software.

IGN: Since Portal takes place in the Half-Life universe, where in the timeline between the games does it reside?

Kim Swift: We will be announcing more about who you are and what you're doing at the Aperture Science Laboratories at a later date.

Only thing we didnt know.

We knew it was a few hours we knew the Gravity Gun feature (saw that in video) everything else was just meh. Valve interviews are leet but this new fish needs to get the Valve touch a little more. What do you say eh>?

3 Hours? A little short but in this case the concept and the realization of it is far more important the game-play time , Plus , it seems that it can be longer with all those crazy puzzles.
Nice to read they are thinking about having MP and about updaing the game as they proceed.

I thought some beta-tester guy said it was 5 hours long.

Actually, we knew it would take place in the Half-life universe.

But I found the interview quite interesting, and she was obviously on a tight leesh not to reveal anymore details regarding the game. So no, I don't think she needs the Valve touch a little more.

I dont think you got what i meant.

oh and about that question i was referring to us not knowing the person you play as meaning anything, now we can expect someone important.

About the interview, when i read Valve interviews from Gabe or so be it its fun to read even the really short ones. There's always something in there that defines them as Valve. With this interview it just felt like its from your everyday company with your everyday interview. Maybe she is under tight leash more so then the other valve employers. Maybe she needs to loosen up.

It just didnt FEEL like a Valve interview it FELT like your everyday interview.

Well see, i just like the way valve answers things etc.

I know what you are getting at, and you are probably right, but her questions pretty much consisted of "Please explain.", so there really wasn't much scope there.

... intent on publishing episodic content on a semi-regular basis with no end in sight.
Is that true? I was under the impression that they would only be cranking out a couple more episodes.

edit - in the interview, they do mention three episodes. How exciting for Kim!

They said only 3 episodes are planned, which is good, because then comes the inevatible Half-Life 3.

You mean Half-Life 4? :P The episodes technically are HL3. Read some interviews with Gabe.

Oh, and 3 hours is really nice, and then considering they will be releasing the SDK more than likely which will allow for some _awesome_ maps *drool*

Ya i think 3 hours is prime for Portal. I was expecting like 1 hour max im getting 2 times my expectation.

I blame IGN. And that's for any particular reason, except when there is ANYTHING wrong with an IGN interview, IGN themselves are almost always to blame.

Mybe the Beta test guy was an idiot and it took him 2 hours longer to work out the puzzles. Overall the interview didn't really have any good info .

Sure..but they aren't titled as HL3: Episode One etc. So it would be weird to have HL2, then some expansion-like episodes, and then HL4 :hmph:

I'd say if there is a next bigger HL game, it will be called Half-Life 3.

However does HL2: Episode One make any sense considering they are not expansions. The first Episode, the first part of HL2 makes no sense because we already played the entire HL2.

Gabe stated that it should have been HL3: Ep1 however it was to late to change it. Therefor if Gabe believes that Ep1 is the first part of HL3 and Gabe owns Valve, Gabe is therefor God of Half-Life, Gabe wins! If you don't listen to the teachings of the HL God he will strike you down with a bolt of lightning.....or not really care....

Yes. However, have you looked at the title of the game recently? It's HALF-LIFE 2: Episode One. It does not matter what Gabe wanted; it matters what he did. And what he did, along with the rest of Valve, was put the freaking words "half", "life", and "two" right there on the freaking box!

However he is god of HL and thus if he belives it to be the first episode of HL3 then it is no matter what the title says.

Although the Episodes can't actually *be* HL3 now, whatever Gabe thinks.

The name 'HL3' has to be reserved for the next true Half-Life game - simply because calling the next one "HL4" would be make no sense to consumers, and would make it look like there's an entire game gone missing from Valve's portfolio.

So nerr.

Whoever said there would be an HL4? Maybe HL4 will be split up into episodes...

He kinda owns Valve..he can do whatever he wants with HL.

Reminds me of Winamp. I see no problem with it. Whoo naming scheme 101.

They could just for HL4 call it Half Life: (insert subtitle here) instead of putting ina number.

God that's annoying. For one thing, we (the gaming community) would call a game (for example) HL:KLAGQ when plain old HL3 isn't taken.
