I believe it was actually mentioned somewhere that it would...don't quote me on that though.

I sure hope so, commentary on all Valve games from this point on would be a dream come true. So interesting and informative listening to the minds behind Valve.

I think it will be a staple for all Valve games.

The playtime could significantly increase that way.

I love fanboys... Here are the minds behind Valve's staple accomplishment: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7844987544204140976&q=interview+prey

So much for Valve's ingenuity with Portals

No clue? Did you watch the video? It's all there, pal.

Come on - Prey utilizes portals in a much different way to Portal. Whilst Prey has them as a feature, Portals entire gameplay base is built around it. Wow, they both have portals. So what? :|
It is entirely possible for ideas to clash, you know. I honestly do not see the big deal.

Yes, yes. Valve are such ripoffs. How dare they possibly gleam inspiration from a concept that was made back in ****ing 1998 and never saw the light of day until 2006. Never mind that the way in which the two titles implement their portals is completely different, in which one actually integrates them into the gameplay and the other just makes a fancy-looking door. Valve has clearly robbed the great minds of the industry. Shame on them!

In the future, please carefully consider what you're going to post so as to avoid mental travesties such as the one you just made.

well if you look at that interview, prey orginally had a portal grenade, in which you could create portals in much the same way as valve's new game. It wasn't quite the same thing though.

Yes, they did have something similar. Did that make it into Prey? Nope. I'll give more credit to a game that actually ships with the concept.

And besides, does it matter? Portal looks amazing, and it looks fantastic, and no idea is 100% original. It is also fairly likely that among the many developers out there we'll see a few ideas clash. These things happen. And to be honest, I couldn't give a shit. It's all in the execution. And did Prey have it?...No.

Wrong, Valve got the idea from Narbacular Drop (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narbacular_Drop).

Also since when was the idea of portals copyrighted?

After watching that video, it looks like the making portals in MP was just cheaply tacked on.
