Ok so i got half life 2 yesterday and i started playing and i noticed that some of the civis in the start of the game had no body just a random head floatin around, i deleted some of my p2p programs and crap thinking i didnt have enough memory on my computer, this fixed the problem but when barney gives you the crowbar i can see the crowbar in my weapons thing at the top but theres not actual model for it so its like invisible the same goes with the magnum and the grenade all the other weapons work fine... and one other thing at the beggining of the game when i load my game or start a new one i can play for like 30 seconds but then the game goes into a window and the screen goes black and theres a white box floating around saying "could not create Direct3D device" idk if this has nething to do with my other problem but, i can click on the black screen and it will return me to my game like nothings happend.. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, you should have said that you bought the game instead of got the game...posting your specs will help.

ok so i ran the steam performance test thing... and everything passed except the general performace part...

Your CPU: 2933 MHz
Recommended CPU: 2400 MHz

Total Memory: 502 MB
Available Memory: 231 MB
Recommended Memory: 512 MB

... this is whats causing HL2 to mess up?... i mean the game runs fine except for the fact i can't see the crowbar, magnum, or the grenade..

I played HL2 with a Nvidia MX 420 the first few times and it was fine, look on newegg for a not-so-pricey card.

That won't make the game look quite as good as a card that supports DX9 (Nviida FX5200, 6200 or ATI x1300) but it will definitely get you going. Just pay attention to what slot the video card uses and what slot you have in your PC.

AGP and PCI-Express are fast slots though not every PC has one.
PCI slots are generic but every PC has one.
