stuck in Follow Freeman, please help

I can't find a way upstairs. I came up the ramp after talking to the guy that was wounded down at the bottom in the water. Is there something I missed?

Theres a staircase to the right of the guy that is wounded

Don't go back up the ramp. Go to the wounded guy in the infested water, stay on the platform, fight off the zombies and when facing the guys body, turn to the left hand side of the platform and across a patch of water there is a small staircase in the wall. Be carefull, though, as fast zombies appear.
