so..i have decided to try out some rock music. What im looking for is fast phased rock, very very heavy with heavy deeeeep drum beats, really hardcore shit. But...the thing is..i dont want any singing, i just hate when they play AWESOME but all of the sudden this voice kicks in screaming "DIIIEEIEE DIEIEEEEEE DDDDIEEEE"...totaly ruins it for me.

Keep in mind that i dont know anything about rock...i dont even know what Metal is...

The only rock music im listening to is from games, such as Quake2, just love Quad Machine. Also, Red Alert 2 music, such as HellMarch 2...just pure hardcore rock with no anoying screaming.

So..can anyone help me with this? I heard a song by a group called "Obituary" which i looked up, checked some songs on www.pandora.com by them and others like them...its awesome but once again, all they do is scream :(

PLease help...i really like hardcore rock when i play games, especially death match, pumps me up you know.

EDIT: Just head a song from Sepulture, called "Dusted" really liked it exept the parts where he singed (screamed), but it was ok cause he wasnt going crazy like some other does. Think its something i should go for?

Well, Obituary are a classic Death Metal outfit, but I can tell you that finding the Death Metal style without lyrics is going to be fairly hard. I mean, there are intros and stuff on albums that are exactly that, but they're just single songs on an album otherwise filled with harsh lyrics.

Let me suggest that you keep trying to listen to the screamed lyrics, as they may grow on you. When I started listening to Metal, I was positively repulsed by Black and Death vocals, but now they're the two styles of the genre that I listen to most.

Additionally, you could absolutely try listening to some Power Metal. The sound isn't as extreme as DM, but it's very fast and often heavy, with the bonus of having sung vocals, not screamed. Try Kamelot, Dragonforce, Sonata Arctica, Gamma Ray, Grave Digger for a sample.

Try the Master of Puppets album by Metallica. Its fairly fast stuff, but it does have singing. Its not, however, the likes of Obituary. Alot is shouted, but its all recognisable and not too harsh.

EDIT: Just saw you liked the Speultura stuff. Alot of Sepultura is shouted, too. But again, theres nothing really harsh there. Get Arise by them. They have some really good riffs and some excellent drumming.

Other than that, I don't think you're going to find bands which are 'hardcore' but are instrumental. Well, you might, but good luck.

red alert 2 and all the proper C&C games' music was done by frank klepacki and i beleive is classed as industrial rock. not death metal! thats the wrong side of the spectrum to look!

Ok, this isn't death metal, but Rage Against The Machine, Velvet Revolver and...AC/DC have really good songs with a tolerable amount of screaming, especially RATM, Zach De La Rocha actually sort of raps, but not in the way you're thinking, look just listen to some:E . But if it's guitar heavy stuff you actually like, but you don't know it yet, say so 'cause I'm your man there:thumbs:

If you want some cool groove-oriented, up-tempo, progressively-edged metal with operatic vocals, then check out the album The August Engine by the band Hammers Of Misfortune. It's really sweet stuff, and pretty heavy, without any harsh vocals at all (and some female ones thrown in for good measure).

ArcturusWhat? Arcturus are totally awesome, but how they fit in with what this guy wants I have no clue.

Let me suggest that you keep trying to listen to the screamed lyrics, as they may grow on you. When I started listening to Metal, I was positively repulsed by Black and Death vocals, but now they're the two styles of the genre that I listen to most.Quoted for truth. I really hated extreme vocal styles when I first started listening to death and black metal (I thought it was "scary") but now a lot of the time, music tends to sound wimpy without screaming and growling. Mind you, I still like other styles of singing, but a lot of the time, clean vocals just don't work with more extreme styles of music.

so you're looking for instramentals?
if so...theres a couple of Nine Inch Nails tracks you might enjoy.

the one track that immediately comes to mind is "The great below" which is an awesome track off The Fragile album.
theres more i could list but is it even something you would be interested in?

I wouldnt say NIN is something that gets you hyped, apart from the song Wish.

maybe, but it also depends on what he is specifically looking for as well.
i mean if instramentals is his thing then definitely there are a few NiN tracks he should check out.

apart from the instramentals, i agree there isn't too many NiN songs that get one hyped per se.

If you said you enjoyed the songs from games such as RA2 and quake which were industrial rock, then I suggest you try out some Rammstein. They have good songs and the lyrics aren't that harsh. They have some instrumental songs too.

There's a great Fear Factory track called Full Metal Contact, a 2 minute instrumental, that you should try and find. I can't remember what album it was releaed on, but it was a bonus track. It's right down your alley I reckon.

Metal instrumentals could be a good route to go down, I think.

Check out the song 'Incorrigible Bigotry' by Arghoslent.

Seth Putnam is a whiney little bitch. Whenever someone says something about his band, he goes and writes a song about them in retaliation. Usually to do with ''[Band Member] is Gay and Jewish'' or something else really funny to do with rape or homosexuality. /rolleyes.

I dispise him. Well, I don't know him, but he just... fails.

Oh come on, most of them are incredibly popular. Just because they don't get any airplay on most radio stations doesn't mean they aren't as mainstream as it gets in the metal community. The only bands that are more well-known are Iron Maiden and Metallica.

Surprised Dragonforce wasn't mentioned, actually, as they've become phenomenally popular in recent times.
