Just watch the damn videos. This looks like it's going to be the best game ever. I'm serious. I am getting a Wii solely for this game. Screw Zelda; the new Mario looks like Mario 64 but about sixty billion times better. I can only imagine just how much there is to explore in this game. If you're able to roam the entire galaxy in any way you want... all I can say is "holy shit." The graphics are beautiful, too.

Looks great. I like the whole space thing (no load times?). Although I wonder how well you can control mario with the wand, I am sure Nintendo will get it right. If this is like Sunshine or 64 then I would definately pick this up.

I dont see the need for more horsepower either. The game looks great and features all of the big name effects being used today.

Wow. :O
That looked awesome.

Also, it sounds like it'd be pretty easy to control too... Graphics are nice.
Wii has to be brought... it just looks like so much fun!

Nintendo really know how to use their hardware. We'll get some really nice looking games later in the consoles life. Though, it's all about gameplay. :)

Those wondering how it controls/plays, read this:

I'm sold, though really they had me the second I saw it, and the neat stuff they're doing with the physics just made me want it more.

Truly awsome in almost every way. On the other hand it's shame that nintendo won't give it as much story as a game like Psychonauts, still from looking at it's gameplay it's still going to be an incredible game.

Ren.182

I think it'll have some sort of story, and knowing Nintendo it'll be a decent story. Or at least a story like every other Mario game... Peach has been stolen! :O

Does it need a story? It's Mario for ****'s sake!

I mean c'mon, what are they going to do for a story? The secret upbringing of Toad or something?

Loved Sunshine, and this looks pretty promising :D (Still, I can see a space Bowser popping up somewhere in this).

A story makes me care, makes me more involved with the world and the characters, a story can make an arbitray thing like riding a space ship from an astroid to get to an astroid, seem a lot more exitidng by giving it a higher purpose or by making it the ship of a badguy which gives it a little bit of Irony that the bad guy himself helps you get to where he does not want you.

Hence same game with story> same game without story. A lack of story may not make a game worse or givew it a bad rating, but the inclusion of one can make it that much more enjoyable and memorable one.

Of course. I am not one to think a game doesn't need a story, for I'm quite picky when it comes to good ones. But you can't expect a long running series like Mario to start turning into a Zelda type narrative (not theme :P). It's hard to put emotion or fear into a game like Mario, as he is all about fun and happy endings. Still, I know what you are saying, and I should have worded my last post a bit better.

Mario need no more story than having to save the princess. The fun is in the playing. Adding a deep story would make it worse.

Agreed.

Mario 64: Save the princess. That's it. But have a shit load of FUN doing it. These games are pure gameplay, and that's all. Ninty don't seem to need "uber" graphics and specs to deliver.

This one looks fantastic. And that's probably what I'll say about all of the upcoming Wii titles.

Agreed also.

Mario is about getting from A to B in interesting ways whilst collecting stars as you go. It's such a great platformer. I'm going to be rigging up my Gamecube next to my PC so i can play through Mario Sunshine, Zelda, Smash Bros. and some other classics. All this Wii stuff has got me in a Nintendo mood :D

Sorry, I meant for the HQ HD 720p resolution videos or anything else that is high resolution. The larger resolution gives a better picture of what the game is like.

The Wii is going to be a very popular console it seems. Were any of the lines for the PS3 or Xbox 360 this long at all?
I'm going to have to pre-order a Wii if they're going to be THAT popular.

Oh man... that new video just makes me want to go and hug every single employee of Nintendo. That is the sort of Nintendo magic that you get with NOTHING else. It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside.

I was dissapointed at the lack of a STAR GET! exclamation though. Silly clever translators.

The wait to try out the Wii at E3 pushed past four hours on Thursday afternoon, while the wait for hands-on time with Sony Corp.’s PlayStation 3 was barely 30 minutes. Both consoles will hit the market later this year, though the Wii is expected to cost much less than rival consoles

Links are dead. I'll be productive and try and find them myself though.

EDIT: Just right clicking and Saving the links should work.

The videos are very cool. It's refreshing to see someone who actually knows how to control a Mario game playing it. Although the parts where he kept missing on the octopus tennis bits got me shouting at the screen.

Tbh, It looks like a bitch to control.

If you watch videos that aren't played by some of the 'tards from IGN, some people seem to find it really easy. Sure, it'll take some getting used to after 20 years of using one type of controller but imagine how hard Mario 64 must have been when things were suddenly using a joystick.

EDIT: Oh yeah, the video. That boss looks loads of fun, the second best we've seen after the spider robot. The method of catupalting between planets looks highly satisfying but I can't for the life of me work out what he's catapaulting himself from. Snowy christmas trees?

That is only one world. If Sunshine and 64 are anything to go by, that'll be one world out of maybe 9 or 10.

The E3 demo was a relatively small area that was designed more or less for the show floor. Nintendo have yet to specify whether or not the game will be entirely free-roaming or be divided into large "worlds".

True, although it will be a large departure if it is indeed a free-roaming world. And back-tracking won't really appeal to me as much as a "HUB." Besides how will there be scope for missions on large planets and space stations without them dominating the play zone? In fact, I'm guessing the HUB will be a space station of sorts.

Incredible as it is...I got a gamecube with Mario Sunshine in a bundle at Christmas. Man those were some great memories...I remember swimming in that beautiful water forever...

And then the next day I got Rogue Squadron and my pants almost exploded at the awesomeness /endexaggeration
