I've already seen the vid over on gamespot, but I wanted a more crystal clear vid that I can download

I hope that when SupCom features, the video will run flawlessly the first time round.

Dunno its a insane game but i dont think ill play it that much. I think what it comes down to is play it here and there waste some time. Just like Oblivion.

I just can't wait to create my own species. I'll probably even try to create humans and see how we'd do against these aliens :D

Few thousand stars did he say? Each with their own set of planets. Me says that a LOT of exploring to do.

The galaxy he was playing in contained 500.000 stars. The mind boggles.

So thats at least 500,000 planets to explore (assuming each star has its own planets).

HOLY CRAP!

This game would be nice online... though I think people who have advanced to the UFO stage would just go around owning everyone. Maybe an online feature like Animal Crossing? Still... I'll be getting this.

Thats actually over 1 million planets to explore, there looked to be about a dozen around some stars, so probably well over a million :O

Wow. Looks like it's come some way since the last demo, graphically and gameplay-wise. Really liked the social Sims-ish elements added to the creature game, and the additions to the space game - the UFO in particular looks like it's alot more fun to control, and the UI is slick and simplistic. And wow, the editor.

Most stunning of all is the massive variety of themes and styles you keep seeing across the planets. Was especially wowed by the planet with the purple swirly volcanoes :D

Dude, that's insane! I thought it would be something like Dystopia, but that's something else. None for me though - like modding or creating custom maps, that would suck every spare minute of my life.

The other planets are secretly downlaoded from other players connected to the internet. I hope, I really, really hope that someone dosen't make an alien race of penis-monsters and it gets downloaded onto my computer! D:

I'm curious as to how you control the downloadable content...I mean I hope I can set some sort of restriction otherwise the game will grow in size quite quickly(unless of course all it downloads is some sort of refference file).

That was godlike! :O... my hype-o-meter just went through the roof!... the customization options still amazes me, and if this procedural generation stuff really works... then wow.
Anyone happen to have the hi-res version? :D

Is this MMO? Because, isnt it kinda unbalanced that one player can juse totaly destroy your city with a UFO when you havent even researched that???

Gargantou
11-05-2006, 03:55 PM
It's not a MMO, it's described as a Massively Singleplayer Online Game imo.:)
It downloads CONTENT from others player, but the players themselves do not interact with your universe, that's the most dumbed down explanation I could come up with.

Ren.182

Basically. Any custom made creature will be uploaded to a server. Those cratures can then be downloaded to other users randomly to populate the million or so planets in everyone's universe.

I read/heard some where (Probably from Gaming Steve) that it's possible to report an offensive creature, and if it gets reported enough it's put into a sort of holding cell, where an official from Maxis will look at it, decide whether it's appropriate, and sort it out.

LOL

The first 20-ish minutes is the same as the first with a little bit of new info... Then at the end he brings in Robin Williams to show you how easy the creature editor is to use cause he's never used it (even though he is a hardcore gamer).... You will laugh out loud guaranteed... He is THE funniest person ever :D

Robin Williams should demo every game.

lol, he kinda froze the game when he tried to turn his ridiculous creation into a baby.

EDIT: That's amazing that they can get a database of tens of thousands of creatures packed into a couple megabytes.
