Hey was just reading the game-spy review for the 9800xt and they talked about the HL2 bundle, and they said that ATI mentioned a the delay was till "Mid-November"!.. closer than december.
:bounce:
http://www.gamespy.com/hardware/october03/radeon/
As stated earlier, both the Radeon 9800 XT (scheduled to be on shelves October 1st) and the Radeon 9600 (which should follow a few weeks later) will ship with full versions of Half-Life 2. It was unclear how this would be accomplished. I asked if we'd get a retail box, CDs in sleeves, or a redeemable voucher. The answer I received was "Um, yes." It seems as if HL2 has been delayed until around mid-November, so the best bet is a voucher.

Mid-November is when the "Holiday Season" starts right?
Sounds reasonable to me.

mid-november to early-december is the last date if you want to grab the holiday season. 12/24 would be too late :)
I'm already over the peak of my hl2-hype so I do not care that much anyway. Maybe it will be pushed into 2004, maybe not... I play other games now.

the guy says "it seems" and ATI's reply was "um yes" when given 3 different things to pick from. this means nothing.
"do you want pizza, mexican, or chinese"
"um yes"
"it seems that mexican is the final choice"
wtf

are you one of those afore mentioned people who cannot speak english? fantastic..
As for this date, it means nothing...but if hl2 was to launch around november time, it would be around the same time as the 9600xt, great for ATi.

Your literacy skills from the post appear to be close to that of a 6 year old, making snide comments about those who can't speak english is quite pathetic.

Considering Valve have Steam, my guess is that it will either be a CD key, or some sort of unique code (doesnt have to be a cd key, can be some sort of ATI number) that will come with card, allowing you to download HL2 for free via Steam... They could easily ship it now with that code, it just cant be used until HL2 is released on Steam. Well, its a guess :)

Yes or no.
All you're working on is localization and hardware optimization, then HL2 is finished. Right?
~DaveKap
====================================
So no more thinking that it's actually done, because it sure as hell isn't.
See what Gabe says there? He says "NO"
This means the localization thing was utter BS, now stop whining about that you egocentric americans :P

I read "All you're working on is localization and hardware optimization, then HL2 is finished. Right?"
So what he says is that no it isnt finished. Is he actually replying to the localisation thing at all? Makes you think :)

omfg..... this is frieking rediculous... i think im just going to wait it out, and stop haunting the forums.... and just wait for the game to come out.. this complete lack of any grounding information and the obscene flow of misinformation is crazy... and this isnt even worldly important.. see you all on some HL2 server in the (near?)future.

Einstein once said that there were only 2 things infinite, the universe and human stupidity. The first one seems not to be totally true, but halflife2.net forums have really proven the last one.
Is there actually something that points to that the game is done? (except speculation by 12 year olds)
EDIT: I'm not saying it isn't done, but what exactly is the prove for this?

I just want to say that I also do not think the game is completed. We've been hearing from Valve THEMSELVES that the game isn't done. We've only heard from sources outside Valve (AKA these people have no ****ing clue what's going on) that the game is done. Do I believe Shacknews? No. Do I believe Gamespy? No. Do I believe IGN? No. I only believe Valve, because they're the ONLY ones who could possibly know if the game is done.

i dunno...mid-november kinda makes sense to me. i mean , ive had a suspicion about it ever since they said "mid-november is the 5th anniversary of Half life" and i think it was gabe who said "kinda funny how that works out, isnt it?" ...and from then on i just had a weird feeling about it.
i personally think they had mid-november planned all along...but i dont really have any evidence of it besides the quote i just explained, so oh well.

To be fair, Valve also said the game was on track for a September 30 release, so it would seem they're not the most reliable source of Half-Life 2 information.

Mid-November totally makes sense. Valve is a company, and in order to keep the company afloat, survive another day and make another game, they have to make $$$. Christmas season/shopping= Cha-ching. That's not to say they'll make it necessarily, just that we can count on the fact that they are most assuredly going to try their damndest to get it out during the time of year when everyone goes insane and rapes and pillages while sacraficing their babies on the altar of consumerism.

It seems as if HL2 has been delayed until around mid-November so the best bet is a voucher.
The gamespy reviewer said mid-november, not ATI
He's just guessing like the rest of us. If it was from ATI then it'd be a different story, but they only answered with "Um, yes"

Agreed, though I dont think they NEED the 'holidaze season' push for HL2, but then again profitability is the name of the game, and whatever will push out a few more cents... well you get the picture.
ok last post.. ok maybe not, im stuck at work and bored out of my mind!

Yea, that's about as reliable as Gabe Newell/Doug Lombardi saying that HL2 was coming Sept. 30th... lol
