Umbacano **Spoilers** and save game recovery

I have just finished the umbacano missions, not the alyid satues but the storyish ones (with the wierd pannel thing). I did it by giving him the lindai crown, kinda wish i hadn't IF you get some treasure if you steal the real crown.

My questions are

1. Does umbacano open up the treasure he says will be there if you give him the real crown?
2. Is there any way to get save games back once you have overwritten them?
if so how?

If you give him the real crown he turns into a powerful lich and tries to kill you, plus his undead buddies pop out to help him. That rat bastard.

So he dies both ways and there is no treasure?

It's like that bloody house quest with the guy who sells you his house for 6k.

Regardless you get all the loot that was in that ruin plus you get to have one of those unique crowns as well.
