Hehe, Just started playing this in COOP with a friend, already been playing for 5 hours straight today. Even if the game is 7 years old, it still feels like a new game, the graphics is quite good with the Rebirth mod and the game is so complex that it makes it look and feel as if it were a 2003 game. I just love this game, so great, scary and one of the best PC games I've ever played.

Anyone else feel this way?

:D

Deus Ex was the only other FPS game to have (and possibly beat) the immersive quality and inteface that System Shock 2 had. Heh, even though I found so many "alive at time of communication" people dead (if you've played - you know who they are) by the time I got to them, I was still hoping that at least ONE person survived to help me out of the hellhole that was the Von Braun ... :p

Scary game too, not scary as in jump-out shock tactics like the ones used in Doom 3, but more deeply affecting, like the silent hill series. If it was a toss-up between between Deus Ex and System Shock 2 ... I'd probably choose Deus Ex for it's variability, but it'd be a very close winner indeed ! :)

Yea, but Deus Ex was waaaaay to easy, even on realistic you could go guns blazing in the whole game and still win...

I've tried every download there is, it just wont work, I eventually got it so it would work, but once the game started, it crashed (Like in the main menu).

Not if you go and fiddle around with damage values in the files in the game directory ... :E

Can you tell us about your PC specs?

And what effects accompany the problem ? (Error Messages, screen flickers, sound troubles ... etc).
EDIT : Oh, and is it internet acquired - i.e paid straight-to-drive download site, or off a CD - both versions have different problems and fixes.

I re-tried it and I just remembered, once the error kicked me in the face, the error says: System Shock 2 does not support your video card.

So, my video card is screwing me in the ass!

Game was hard when i 1st played it. I was pretty young back then tho. Once you play the game more then once its gets very easy. Its like that with all games tho. Once you get use to the style of the game it gets very easy.

Yeah, System shock 2 is an excellent game. I think I say this once in every few threads that crop up about it in a month :P

Deus Ex's opening level was very hard.

Personally, I can't wait for Bioshock, although I should really get System Shock 2.

Apparently the ending was crap though.

In my opinion, the audio in system shock 2 was some of the best i've ever heard.

It was insane but i think that many games since then have had better sound.

Only problem I had with SS2 is that you're built up for this huge confrontation with Shodan and she's easy as hell to defeat. In fact the 'The Many' is the harder of the bosses.

As well as bone crunchingly dull to fight.

Bah, I had to resort to getting the game from The Underdogs. D:

All the videos are flipped upside down... there is no sound throughout the entire game...

I'd buy it if I could find it in a store.
I'm not one for buying my games online.
