Indeed...
It's Tomb Raider, what's to be excited about?
There's an 85% chance that it'll be just as bad, if not worse than the other TR's.

It looks gorgeous and it's supposedly pretty good. I've seen it running properly and it seems like the gameplay itself is good. It's 9 GB or something, because of the graphics and the physics. Yowzer.

Graphics side: you need a least dx9.0 GC to have everything ON with super smooth frame rate and with all graphical effects, such as depth of field, which blurs details in the distance..etc buttom line, its a mix of SC3 and HL2 technology.
there are new moves similar to POP, harder puzzles than previous TR versions. once you complete the first level, you can now view the Craft mission which located at the main menu. (you start inside the craft castle).
wait for a review @ gamespot. or try the demo

I'm pretty impressed. It looks good, it runs fine on my pc with everything on exept aa and at a res of 1024x786. It's completly smooth.
The gameplay itself is fun, it does really show they took a lot of things from the prince of persia games. But the execution is pretty good. It's not as intuitive as prince of percia or psychonauts whne it comes to controls, so it's better to use a controller. Although playing with a mouse and keyboard won't necesairly piss you off or make the experience unfun.
The puzzles are simply and fun, atleast in the demo. Not very origininal but that doesn't make them that much less enjoyable.

Pretty sucky game with nice-ish graphics.
You don't even have to press the grab button while in the air to grab on anymore. I think you had to in 1 & 2. It just auto-grabs when you jump to a platform. You can't grab onto anything other than platforms to do with the puzzle. The camera's also lame.

I was genuinely impressed with this game. Sure, it's a total rip-off of Prince of Persia in almost every single way, but what a rip-off it is. I thought the graphics were excellent (though not exactly mind-boggling), and though the controls were a bit weird, I'll attribute that to the keyboard and mouse setup not being ideal for a game like this.
The one thing that threw me off was the camera. They keep it behind Lara like in previous games, but I found it kind of disorienting. If the camera were pulled back a bit and positioned overhead by a few degrees, the game would be a lot easier to play, at least for me.
But, yeah, how about that. A new Tomb Raider game that doesn't suck.

I dont know what level the demo is but i have the full version and im really enjoying myself. The first level of the game (which i guess the demo is) is pretty boring, it gets better after that. This was a nice surprise. And it runs smooth and looks good with my GeForce FX 5600..

It's not as good as Tomb Raider 1,2 and 3 was. Those were really difficult compared to this one. The auto-aim system was the same in the older games but all enemies are marked with a huge red crosshair if you're aiming at them which really sucks. And when you shoot enemies it looks like you're shooting on iron, no blood. Even so, the game is really enjoyable, possibly because of the sexy lady you play :D

I like it so far. Pretty good controls for the PC actually (much better than I thought), really smooth and responsive. Excellent animations on Lara too.

I've read that the next-gen mode in the full version of the game runs pretty slow unless you have 512MB of video memory, but the standard content should run fine. (It's the content run on the PS2 and Xbox versions) I have heard some talk of problems on ATI cards because of the way the shaders were written, but that was more in relation to the next-gen mode.

If I turn on FS-AA the game goes all black and white mist which is peculiar, but with that off and everyrthing else on it runs silky smooth.
And the game itself isn't half bad either. I'm going to be interested to see the reviews, I have a feeling they'll be pretty favourable. I've seen some of the other levels which look absolutely splendid.

Just finished the game, it was great. But a little to easy but i liked it cause i hate being stuck in games. Overall this game was great, not many games has me hooked like this one did. Its only weakness is that it was to short, tock me 7 hours to complete but it was awesome while it lasted. Cant wait for the next Tomb Raider game..

This was a lot of fun.
The combat is mediocre, and the enemy AI is questionable, but the puzzles and jumping is so much fun I can't pass on this. I'll be purchasing it.
The movements feel a lot more natural both due to the lack of "grid" and to the new animations. It actually makes sense how she pushes herself up with her feet rather than simply pull herself up as she did in the old games.
Bad^Hat
06-04-2006, 06:08 AM
Meh, kinda the opposite for me. The movements didn't feel very natural at all, probably owing to the mouse control and platform-ised movement. Probably won't be giving it a purchase on PC.

Wow--I must say that I am impressed with this one! The graphics are top-notch and the gameplay is very entertaining, even if the AI is a little weaker than I prefer. The controls are pretty decent on the PC, but I think it would be much better using a gamepad...perhaps the 360 one for the PC? I might have to pick one of those up in the near future.
Maybe it just looks so good because the last one was so abysmal...but either way, its great so far. It just makes me hunger for the next-gen Indiana Jones that Lucasarts is working on--if its anywhere near as fun as Emperor's Tomb, then I will be very pleased indeed!

Wait 3 days for 6,074,4033,45,303,999 Lara models to pop up on the internet ready for download. Then wait 6 months for a single modeler to atempt to convert one of them to Garry's Mod.

Wow. Just saw on EBGames.com that TR:L will be 50% more expensive for the 360 than the PC! ($60 as compared to $40) That sort of a price doesn't make sense to me and I would frankly be a little upset if I were a 360 owner. The versions will not be so different, especially if you have a decent PC, that trying to justify this pricing model is just foolish.

Bad optimization. I can play HL2 on max with only some stuttering (recomended is medium) but I can't turn a single obtion above low in FEAR without INCREDIBLE lag.
