Really cool. Anyone who hasnt played/beat it on the 360 should get this 100%. Really good game. Worth buying for sure. If the pc version has extra stuff i will have to pick it up aswell.

:bounce: Aw man what a pleasant surprise! I am very eager to smash dudes in the face with a long piece of lumber!

I hope it's not a short demo but regardless I'm sure I will play through it a few times.

It'll be interesting to see how this runs as opposed to FEAR. It'll also be interesting to see how visceral the combat is as compared to Oblivion and its rousing melee....

Condemned is fantastic fun. Smashing junkies in the face with lead pipes - classic.

Sorry, I was going to put it in my last post but forgot

Whenever a demo comes out filefront is usually slow to get it on the front page but I can almost always find it by searching.

I was hoping for more, but this is definitely a game that relies on building tension. Lack of action = crazy tension

****in hell, what a game, I hated F.E.A.R., and just after playing this demo, can tell it`s soooo much better than F.E.A.R., no gimmicky slo mo, with some mental melee combat and some nice graphics, only thing is, it`s barely playable on my PC. ;(

I love all the blur effects, and the different "handling" of each weapon
It seems to run a lot better on my PC than Fear does, and it looks a lot better because of the awesome lighting effects
Not sure what settings I had it on, just upped the resolution to 1024x768 and went with the default

Could tell us the difference between the 360 and the PC from your impression ?

My god that was awesome! And it ran pretty darn well on my midrange PC.

Very immersive though, I was amazed by the melee combat, especially that one part with the drugees attacking eachother, and I joined the brawl, that was ****ing AWESOME. Your POV moves so much with every swing and hit, it's really immersive like that. And all of the sudden I get grabbed by someone and I have to sway my mouse to break free, SWEET! Plus I LOVED how the gun was, how you had to check the ammo manually, and how the damage was realistic. It really makes you appreciate the power of a firearm over a melee weapon, which is great.

I can't wait 'til the full version comes out.

The only part that scared the living hell out of me in the 360 version was the part where as you moved through the room, the manequins would close in on you, every time I turned around they would be up in my face, and the creepy sounds didn't help it

Pretty damn good, ran acceptable on my computer at 1280x1024.

The melee was a little clumsy in my opinion, and why does he only block in like a second and then let’s go? I don't really get the system were a thug grabs you and you have to do something with the mouse to get free, how does it exactly work? Sway the mouse right to left as fast as possible or something else?
The Taser saved my life, because the thug who took your gun he was a damn sucker. Kept running up and grabbing me and hitting my ****ing head. Bastard.

The weapons were pretty damn awesome though, I like how realistic they felt with only a shoot or two and a thug is down. And also the need to check your ammo in the magazine.
I found a pump-action shotgun in a storage room, it was pretty neat but only four shots.

Very immerse too, excellent sound effects especially when you hear some guys running on the floor above you. Excellent work there.
The AI seemed good too but I saw some faults like one thug running towards a wall. Nothing really bad though.

I'm looking forward towards this, just a little disappointed in the melee but I'll probably get used to it. I hope at least. ;)

Finally finished downloading it.

It doesn't run right on my PC. Nobody has a body. Nobody has a face. Quite strange. Colors all washed out, missing buildings, windows floating in air, no hands. Other than that it runs great :|

I don't know if there is a config setting I can change to fix it but looking online I could hardly find any troubleshooting info on this game.

I know I need a new computer but every damn game that comes out seems like it runs well with great frame rates, but some kind of horrible graphic bugs.

Half-life2 was not only the first PC game I'd bought in the past 20 years, but the last game I bought that runs right on my PC. WTF

EDIT: er actually I remember now that I did buy a few older Pentium 3 games like Medal of Honor and Morrowind
EDIT2: er actually Half-Life2 and Doom3 had some serious graphic problems when I bought them as well. It wasn't until I modified the config files that they ran correctly.
oh well

Seems like a driver problem maybe? You fully uninstall your drivers then install new ones?

Well thanks but it's not a driver problem. I have an uncommon hybrid card - 9250 PCI. It's never fully supported. If you want to make sure your card is supported in a game, get one that is popular.

Other problems stem from the fact that I have a Celeron instead of a Pentium, and of course that I have to use PCI instead of AGP or PCI-E.

It's usually as simple as changing a 1 to a 0 under one of the things in the config file to get the game to play properly, but not always.

I'm tired of this ****ing mobo/GPU I tell you what. How much would it have cost them to add an AGP or PCI-E slot to the board somewhere in China? Then I could have bought a really nice Graphics card.

Try finding a really powerful PCI card. LOL, no such thing.

Good demo , alot of tension , though I wonder if the melee system can carry the game , the demo was short to say anything about it but it's starting point is good.

This game is surely more stressing than F.E.A.R pika-boo stuff.

Unfortunately I only got up to the part where one of my men are complaining about the smell of cigarette smoke.
I'll finish it when I get home from school.

yeah i just got up to that point too lastnight before i had to go to bed, looks awesome, great voice acting btw, often overlooked, i liked the minimilistic feel, just a handgun with a few rounds etc, ran really well too.

i've heard the full version(360) is very short though and gets repetitive :(

It's a huge blast to play, though. There's nothing better than ripping a metal signpost off a wall and whacking people over the head with it.

I'll download the demo and make comparisons.

It was alright, but after playing oblivion and riddick the melee combat feels kinda dull.

Axyon
31-03-2006, 04:32 PM
Wow, they certainly changed things a lot for the demo. Most of it is the first level, but the small part where you briefly go outside is from way later in the game (and that huge brawl doesn't even happen), then it goes back to level one when the guy in the jumpsuit attacks you (I'm keeping it vague, because he's an important character). They certainly blended the two levels together very smoothly, and there are parts that have been taken out completely with shortcuts added and more enemies, probably to keep the pace faster and action more intense.

Anyway, apart from those large differences, everything else is pretty much the same. Nothing different about the combat, finishers etc. Although I found it much harder to fight and block than on the 360.

Wow, pretty cool. It's a bit Max Payne goes CSI. Very good atmosphere. I like the way NPC's hide behind corners and suddenly jump up on you. The first time it happened I almost jumped off my chair. Pretty good ending too. Oh, and it runs very good too. Everything maxed @ 1280x1024. I might consider getting this.

One of the best of its kind since Kingpin. I love the fighting system and all the gore, violence and the sick murderer :D
I wasted my money when i bought FEAR, everything in that game was crap in my opinion but i am for sure getting Condemned asap :D

Best horror game out there atm ;D

EDIT: Just played some with all lights turned off and difficulty on hard. As I came to the room where you need the fireaxe, I left my shotgun in the other room and grabbed the axe and smashed down the door, two addicts or whatever they are were in this room. First I got attacked by one of them and my health was like 10-15% so I quickly ran to the room where I left my shotgun, with only 15% health I would not have a chance to beat the other freak, I though he was hiding in that room but as I came closer to the shotgun I heard his running footsteps just behind my back and my heartbeat increased alot, I also started swetting and felt cold :O
But luckily I was quick enough to grap my shotty and shoot the bastard. I must admit, this is the first time since AvP that I got really scared :I

This is truly one entertaining game with a great atmosphere.

Am I the only one that didn't find the game particularly enjoyable? The game gave me a headache with all of the bright bloom effects everywhere, and the game didn't run very well on my computer either, compared to others, even at medium settings. Moreover, the movement and view swinging was just disorienting for me. Half the time during combat I had no idea what was happening. Atmospheric, definitely, but hell, I even got bored near the end.

clarky003
01-04-2006, 02:48 PM
It was a tad scarier on PC for some reason, on Xbox 360 I didnt find it scary atall :/

But other than that it was pretty cool, although you can rip alot of stuff off the walls the fighting wasn't that much fun. I'd prefer it if there was some hardcore high tech weapons :P.

I must say I didn't find a shotgun so I think I'll go back and play it again. The sound seems really good in this game. Graphically it's pretty similar to FEAR, some parts look better some worse.

yeah the blur effects gave me a headache too but i like the game. I'll probably have adjust some settings.

As for the edited nature of the first level. Thats something that Monolith also did with their FEAR demo. Edit together some various areas to give as much of an impression of the game as they can. The first level of the actual game is most likely going to be the same as the 360 version

Terrific graphics. Meh gameplay. The melee is pretty well done alright, but the CSI elements are so ridiculously simplified that it makes me sad they even tried to make the gameplay more involved by adding this silly waste of time in there. And if this is 1/10 of the final game, then this won't be in my collection until it hits the bargain bin. Oh well. I am enjoying the Tomb Raider demo much more. :)
