To tell the truth, I was a little disappointed by the planes of Oblivion. The Kvatch portal was good, but the rest (on my third one) seem very derivative. It's bascially killing the imps the entire way through, maybe those armored baddies too, and that seems to be about it. To someone that has closed alot of Oblivion gates, do they get more unique? Or is it the same thing everytime?.

Every Oblivion gate is different. Even going in one, then coming out of it and going back in quickly, it will change to something different. Some are puzzling while others are straight forward.

The more you level the different beasts there are. Imho, I'm not a fan of Oblivion planes/portals. I go out hunting me some deer and the sky goes Lava red and I just think "FFS not again". :|

I think if you complete the main quest they go away? Not sure though.

They should go away with the main quest completed, but I'm not sure. Anyway, it was just a little disappointing to see Oblivion, repeated over and over, when Beth was so intent on not showing any screens of it. I was hoping for some unique puzzles, disembodied souls expressing their torment, etc...but the OB portals are a bit too generic after awhile. If anyone has played Westwood's Lands of Lore 3 (old I know), the hell depicted in that game was fantastic.

I am SICK of planes of Oblivion...I've closed 19 of them and they're all the same general system. Climb the main tower or hit a few switches in order to access upper levels of the tower. Get to the top and take the stone.

Oblivion would've been much more fun if each plane had a boss...hell..the game would've been much better if it had even ONE boss.

I agree.

What annoyed me was this whole story of Oblivion and how unique it is, yet you can go into the planes in the first 5 minutes on main quest? Should be the last thing you do.

I'm going to complete the main quest this week. I hate Oblivion gates, there always in the way.

Puzzles would of been really good in Oblivion...

The Oblivions are randomly generated each time you enter'em.. But believe me, you guys shouldn't whine.. The randomly generated dungeons in Daggerfall is far far worse, so worse that many times I've had to restart my character because I can't get ****ing out of'em..
Max, I never played 3, but I did play 1, and Lands Of Lores spiritual predecessors, Eye of the Beholder.:)

Same here. I would have been much more content with less OB portals, as long as they were unique. Also, I thought each portal was supposed to have its own deadric prince? Yet I haven't encountered any.

I was wondering that. 16 of them for each area?

Err.. Each portal its own daedric prince?
You obviously have no idea about ES lore, do you?
The only Daedric Prince that's involved in the invasion etc is Mehrunes Dagon.
You see, all Daedric Princes(s) have their own spheres, that they control, Mehrunes is destruction, change, revolution, energy and ambition..
There's no way in hell you'd encounter a daedric prince in every single one of'em.. Daedric princes are also VERY and I mean VERY varied in appearance..
http://til.gamingsource.net/book_daedra/dae_mehrunes.gif there is Mehrunes Dagon
http://til.gamingsource.net/book_daedra/dae_sheogorath.gif there is Sheogorath.
AFAIK; the only game where you could encounter'em all, was in Daggerfall, where you only could really meet'em via summoning'em for quests, artifacts etc..

Before you think things like this, you really should know more about the lore etc, because that's something that's just wrong.:)

Again, I don't mean to offend you in anyway, I just wanted to get this straight.

I don't read the books. I was going to collect some for my house but the picking up physics engine is dreadfully tedious when arranging them somewhere.

I never stated it for an exact certainty. I said that was what I thought. I read it somewhere ages ago and must have mangled the true meaning. Thanks for clarifying.

They disappear when you complete the main quest.
