Soul gem questions...

So I have a whole ton of these things, but how can I improve them? I have many grand soul gems, but they are "lesser." Is there any way to make them "greater" or fill them up more somehow? I capture souls, but I am told recently that no gem in my inventory is big enough to hold my freshly harvested souls--even rats! Thoughts?

Yep. The Mages Guild can supposedly give you spells to use the soulstones.

Crap! So if I have grand soul gems and they are lesser, then I cannot add more souls to them? Or Shaker, you are saying these spells might be able to improve the gems maybe? Ugh, what a waste of all these crummy low-level gems if not!
