My Game Freezes

Can anyone help me as this problem has happened twice. I play the game and get to the Black Mesa East Chapter and I get scanned and i'm taken to the lift by Dr Mossman. Thats when everything just freezes. I can move around but I can't use the lifts, people won't talk to me and I can't even shoot Dr Mossman. Does anyone have any ideas to to why it keeps happening? Since this has happended twice I'm beginning to lose patience so any help or ideas as to how I can stop this happening would be greatly appreciated.

Of course I bought the game. All my PC, Xbox and PS2 games are originals. Copies screw up machines, thats what I find anyway

Anyways, I think it's best to restart that chapter.
Just select to start a new game, and then select the last chapter. You may have to replay a tad of it, but hopefully the problem will be solved.

Load a previous save point like beerend said and make sure you fully updated the game through steam

As beerdude said, restarting the chapter usually sorts this kind of problem. Tis weird though, people always seem to have trouble with Mossman and that bloody lift.
