Is it me or was the 1st SC game by far the most challenging and fun, the other 2 seem like arcade games compared to the original

The first was great, esp. the break-in into the CIA building. Skipped the other two coz the demo's didn't appeal to me. Indeed too arcadey.

I wouldn't call Chaos Theory arcadey, rather, it seems like a more accessible game. It's a bit faster, it doesn't pigeonhole you into a 100%-stealth approach, and the missions are more free-form. Besides which, you finally get a combat knife. Honestly, why would you send a spy out into the field whose only close-combat defence is throwing elbows?

All three were great, but I'd never go back to the original now. You have to ****ing select the pick out of your inventory to pick a lock. That's insane, and time consuming.

Chaos Theory was definitely the worst. Way too easy, broke the save system, and made it to where you could shoot right through if you wanted. Not to mention the melee attacks. I didn't like what they did with it at all.

The first was the best. The second was a mission pack with slightly less creative missions but still a decent game. Plus it introduced the kickass online mode. I really wasn't a fan of the third game, but loved the other ones.

in my opinion the first game was the best - the story hooked me the most. SC2 was the worst game in the series, didn't really like it. SC3 was "just" good.

I hope SC4 merges the best parts of SC1 (story) SC3 (missions, technology) as well as some new ideas.

The third was ridiculous because you could run through bitch-slapping everyone to death or stabbing them in the face. The second was fun, but not nearly as freeform as it was supposed to be. The first was quite wonderful, but only 'quite'.

The thing that SC always had over MGS was the stealth, the realism and the tension of creeping around in the dark. MGS was kind of a weird simplified stylised stealth where you could run around behind your enemy and dive behind things and not get caught, whereas Splinter Cell required a careful approach, good use of gadgets, and actual sneaking. MGS3 was a perfect bridge between the two games and is thus claims the title of Best Stealth Game Ever That's Not Thief 3.

MGS3 was a good stealth game until you got some automatic weapons, then you could run through the whole game gunning everyone down, and I would not call it the best non-theif 3 stealth game, not at all

you should, the last mission in the museum is classic thief, i hoped you've played the cradle :|

on sc, i dunno if its got easier, i have sc:1 and chaos theory, never bothered finishing ct, i dunno i find the sc games clunky or sumit and not to mention boring as fook imo, i just gave up on ct, never did i go ''ow wow'' like in mgs or sumit(stealth games are prolly my favourite genre btw, playing sniper elite atm), the stories arent interesting and the ''humour'' in ct was pathetic, also product placement ftl...

I tried the demo for sc2 and hated it.
Recently got into sc:ct and I love it. Much closer to what I want in a stealth/action game than the previous versions.
It has some obvious shortcomings, but it also has some industry-leading features, such as the animations, which really are spectacular.

Personally I would want more action and more gadgets, but I can see how fans of the older versions would not. From the sneakpeeks of sc4 it looks like gadgets will have a less important role. If that is true, then I wont be interested. Sc:ct would be a horrible drag if it weren't for the gadgets (mainly the goggles).

As such you could say that dark sector looks more interesting than sc4 atm.

I really do not enjoy Splinter Cell. I think it is to hard, for an example. On the 1rst one for the Xbox you have to run and jump up to a pipe then move left to a window then jump in the window! I was running around for almost 30 min. trying to figure out what to do. That was the last time I played that game needless to say.

On the other note I think that this is a great game when you are not trying to figure out what to do. As in the fighting, it is awsome just sneaking up behind the bad guys and twisting their neck gives me a little satisfaction to keep going to the next hard part.

I finally bought SC3 and its the first of the Splinter Cells I've actually broken down and purchased, so that should say something. And while you can actually survive a firefight if you do it correctly, getting it still leads to death ninety percent of the time.

Really? Sc3 was relatively easy, but fun as hell.
