Day of Defeat: Source FAQ
Below are frequently asked questions and their answers for Day of Defeat.

  1. What is Day of Defeat: Source?
Day of Defeat: Source is a World War II multiplayer modification for Half-life 2. Day of Defeat attempts to recreate WWII battles in both fictional and non-fictional environments. It puts you in the shoes of either an Allied or Axis soldier circa 1944, Western Europe.

  2. Is Day of Defeat: Source just ported from Day of Defeat?
Not quite. Day of Defeat: Source takes full advantage of the Source engine with new graphics, textures, and features. All the maps and models have been redeveloped and new classes and weapons added. You will find enough new things in Day of Defeat: Source to make it look like a completely different game altogether.

  3. Do you respawn?
When you play DoD you will have unlimited lives but there will be a delay between spawning. This is decided by the server.

  4. Will the strongest weapon take over the game?
There are many disadvantages along with advantages when being a class with a strong weapon. The strong guns are going to take away a lot of stamina while shooting standing up. They will have to lay prone (or crouch) to reduce the loss of large amounts of stamina.

  5. Will the sniper rule the game?
No, the sniper is going to be a weak class so if your close enough he may still be able to get enough shots off if your lucky you will get yours off first. He will also have the disadvantage of not being able to shoot while jumping.

  6. Will there be a single-player component?
Like the original, Day of Defeat: Source is multiplayer only.
