Second Scout Unlockable – Bonk Energy Drink & Achievements
Posted @ 4:00 PM, February 19 2009, By: AciD In News, Team Fortress 2

Today is Thursday and that means there is a new update update on 'The Scout Update' website. Today's update reveals 35 new achievements and the second Scout unlockable weapon, Bonk! the energy drink.
Runnin’ rings around all them molasses-slow dummies out there on the battle- field is thirsty frickin’ work. But when it comes to quenchin’ that thirst, only one thermonuclear thirst detonator packs all the “Atomic Punch” you’ll ever need. Bonk! is fulla radiation, which as we all know is pretty great for givin’ people superpowers. Just one can’ll blast ya into a few second rush of radioactive energy so powerful you’ll be dodgin’ bullets like they ain’t even there!

Achievement examples:
  • I'm Bat Man
  • Dodgers 1, Giants 0
  • Caught Napping
  • Batter Up
  • Artful Dodger
  • Retire the Runner
The update also warns "After the beneficial effects of the radiation wear off, drinkers have reported experiencing feelings of lethargy that can last several seconds". You can visit The Scout Update web page here.
Second Scout Update: Watchtower and Junction Maps
Posted @ 4:17 PM, February 18 2009, By: Hectic Glenn In News, Team Fortress 2

Wednesday is here, as is a new update to 'The Scout Update' website. Today's addition are two new maps. Watchtower (arena map) created by Joshua Shiflet and Junction (cp map) created by Sean Cutino.
Watchtower, an Arena map that plays unlike any of Valve’s Arena maps, with a heavy focus on vertical space and long, open sight lines. Control of the central building is a key decision that teams must wrestle over. More Sniper friendly than most Arena maps, it’s a perfect complement to the Scout update. Batter up!
Junction is a Gravel-Pit style map that the community has been heckling us to include for months. Junction is a sharp contrast to Watchtower. It’s full of tight spaces and short sight lines, which create combat opportunities dominated by ambushes and explosive weaponry.

Scout Update Website Live – Release on Tuesday 24th
Posted @ 3:30 PM, February 17 2009, By: AciD In News, Team Fortress 2

There is only one mysterious Sandman bat, be sure to check the update page every day to see more updates!
You Scouts are gonna love this highly collectible bat that smacks baseballs at the other team, stunning the living crap outta anybody dumb, slow, drunk, mute or Australian enough to get in the way. The farther the ball flies before ricocheting offa some chucklehead's skull, the longer he's gonna be stunned. And guys who think they're tough because they're invulnerable? It works on them too. Now the bad news: You can't double jump when you're carrying this little beauty. On the other hand, double jumping never put anybody in a coma.

New Team Fortress 2 Mode, New Class and More Upgrades Coming Soon
Posted @ 11:35 PM, January 20 2009, By: DigiQ8 In Team Fortress 2

Team Fortress 2 developer Robin Walker has revealed to the Escapist that they are working on "a very different new game mode".
The Scout is the next class slated for the special treatment, and Walker expects the update will be available early this year. Additionally, the team is juggling a number of side projects at the moment, including finally bringing a year's worth of the downloadable content and upgrades to the Xbox 360 version of the game. A new Payload map is in the works, more community maps are on the way and the team will soon unveil a very different new game mode.
Walker also revealed that his team are focusing on existing classes but that doesn't mean they're not considering a 10th class. Walker said:
We've got several new class designs floating around, some of which we like a lot, but right now we're focusing on the broadening of our existing classes through the addition of the unlockables.

Team Fortress 2 Blog Update: Incredible Additions Being Worked On
Posted @ 6:43 PM, December 11 2008, By: Hectic Glenn In Team Fortress 2

The Team Fortress team had been drafted in to help with L4D in the past few months, but it seems they are back on home ground working on TF2 again. Although we won't see any updates this year, here is an example of what to expect:
  • Teleporters will be upgradeable to level 3. As the teleporter is upgraded, the cooldown will decrease.
  • Dispensers will be upgradeable to level 3. They will heal faster and generate metal faster as they are upgraded.
  • Spies will be able to recharge their cloaking ability by picking up ammo off of the ground.
  • We've made a bunch of minor changes by adding particle systems and upgrading the HUD to show things like deaths by critical hits, players that are overhealed, and giving more information to medics when people are calling for them.
That's not it though, they are also working on a couple other things, including the next class pack.
  • The next class pack will be the Scout. One of the main goals we're focusing on for him has been to provide tools that make him useful in maps like Dustbowl & Goldrush
  • We are actively working on a massive XBox 360 update, which will include pretty much everything we've shipped on the PC in the last year.
  • We're also working on bringing over a variety of engine improvements from Left 4 Dead into the TF2 engine, including multicore support.
Incredible updates for Team Fortress 2. There is no date yet for this release, or the update coming to the 360 users but we will post it here as soon as we know. To see the full blog update see here.
