It's been a busy week for Steam, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Dragon Age: Origins and of course Left 4 Dead 2 later next week.

First, I'd like to talk about the Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 release which now sits on the top sellers list for this week, the game has sold over 4.7 million copies in just 24 hours making it the most successful launch in entertainment history. With over 73,834 players currently playing the multiplayer mode it's the only game that compete with Counter-Strike on the Top 75 games list. If you want to discuss more about the game you can check this thread in our forums.

From EA, Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars and Command and Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath have been just released today on Steam. And they're offering Crysis and Crysis Warhead for 50% off until Monday.

There is another weekend deal but this time from Codemasters, they are offering the entire Overlord franchise, Overlord, Overlord 2, and Overlord: Raising Hell 75% off until Monday, that's $8.75 USD for the complete pack.

Finally - There's a new Beta to participate in, Zero Gear.
Zero Gear is a multiplayer kart combat game by independent developers NimbleBit. Our game is completely centered around physics, player customization, and supporting community created custom items, custom maps and custom game modes.
To join the beta, sign up here. And for more info about the game, click here. So what's next? Left 4 Dead 2 is coming next Tuesday - November 17th. Have you pre-ordered your copy yet?

Modern Warfare 2 Comes With Steamworks
Posted @ 3:24 PM, October 23 2009, By: Evo In Steam Games

Modern Warfare 2 (already up for pre-order) is going to be using Steamworks and Steam Cloud to provide anti-cheat technology, auto-updating, achievements and the ability, using Steam Cloud, to use your multiplayer profile wherever you go without fear of losing it. In the announcement Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling said:

Steamworks will make it possible for us to have a closer connection to our fans, and enable us to support our community much more than ever before,. Steam is the hands down leader in offering a community focused experience on PC and the inclusion of Steamworks has allowed us to deliver the most feature-rich PC version to ever come from Infinity Ward, which at the end of the day will mean the most to our fans."

Gabe Newell had this to say:

"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 may be one of the biggest releases in video game history. Having a game as significant as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 using the suite of back-end services in Steamworks is a signal to us that we're making the right kinds of choices for triple-A developers like Infinity Ward."

It will be interesting to see how the game will utilise Steamworks along with Infinity Ward's custom matchmaking tools and how the lack of dedicated servers will impact on how the game performs. You can pre-order now ahead of its launch in the week commencing 8th November.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – Pre-order on Steam
Posted @ 7:03 PM, October 22 2009, By: Hectic Glenn In Steam Games

The highly anticipated sequel from Infinity Ward is now available for pre-purchase on Steam. After the huge success of COD4, this is a game many Steam users have been waiting for.

Controversy has plagued the game in the past few weeks after IW announced the game would have no dedicated server functionality, but instead would come with custom-built matchmaking, essentially killing a large gaming community.

Modern Warfare 2 is released on November 12th and is available for $60 / £35. Many people wanted to buy, but will you now?

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade – Remember me?
Posted @ 1:48 PM, September 12 2009, By: BlueWolf72 In Steam Games

Available on Steam for $4.99. This was one of the few movie adaptations that actually lived up to its promise.  I was searching for a game to play on Steam and found this winner.  I thought that it might trigger some fond memories of gaming in the 1980's.  The game was released in May 1989 simultaneously with the movie. It was available for DOS, Amiga, Atari ST, and Mac OS. A CD-ROM version was later released for the FM-Towns, with 256-color graphics, as well as a VGA PC version.  Video added for flavor.

Posted @ 12:59 PM, September 10 2009, By: BlueWolf72 In Competitions, Steam Games

Number None's popular puzzle-platformer, Braid, is on sale at 66% off ($4.99) this weekend on Steam.  To help get the word out we are giving some keys away to this fun game on Steam.  I will make the contest very simple.  Tell us what you would do if you could time travel.  I will send you a private message so you can enjoy this awesome game.  I will randomly select 5 lucky winners.  Good luck to all!

Braid is a puzzle-platformer, drawn in a painterly style, where you can manipulate the flow of time in strange and unusual ways. From a house in the city, journey to a series of worlds and solve puzzles to rescue an abducted princess. In each world, you have a different power to affect the way time behaves, and it is time's strangeness that creates the puzzles. The time behaviors include: the ability to rewind, objects that are immune to being rewound, time that is tied to space, parallel realities, time dilation, and perhaps more.
