Firearms: Source Update and HL2.net Interview
Posted @ 8:25 PM, July 31 2009, By: Hectic Glenn In Mods

We always enjoy hearing from the FA:S team who tirelessly work on their mod and always provide great updates on new things they are working on. They have now completed new player models for the blue team and provided early an early look at ps_spectre a new map they have been working on.

In our interview with Shinobi and Dyspatch we talk about how far FA:S is from launch, future map packs as well as the changes to the mod freeing it from its CSS dependency.
Testing has brought us to the 100th version of FA:S. The new alpha feels like a major step forward and it feels like we are moving towards wrapping things up. Seeing the player models working in game for the blue team has been a major morale boost. So far we have around 2000-3000 animations
Check out the full update including the new Sako rifle model on the Firearms: Source website.

Left 4 Sims – A Gamers Diary
Posted @ 5:07 PM, July 29 2009, By: Evo In Left 4 Dead

You may have noticed BlueWolf mentioning this on the forum but good friend of mine The_B (aka Ben Borthwick) has created the cast of Left 4 Dead in The Sims 3 and he went on to make a little diary about it. This is only the start though, he promises that future episodes will feature some of the Infected which is sure to add some extra spice to procedings.

You can play around with the Survivors yourself if you head here. Expect the Infected to be available shortly.

If you want to find out more about why Ben created this little tale, check out my interview with him.

Depeche Mode are in Left 4 Dead 2
Posted @ 7:13 AM, July 28 2009, By: Evo In Left 4 Dead 2

Are you a fan of British 80's electro-pop band Depeche Mode? If so you are in for a pleasent suprise as the band will be in Left 4 Dead 2. Eurogamer reports that Valve's Chet Faliszek had been in touch with a variety of bands and record labels in the interest of referencing them in the game. Currently we will see Rochelle sport a Depeche Mode t-shirt, but don't be suprised if the band let Valve use more than just their name on a piece of clothing.

This is not the first time that famous musicians have featured in the Left 4 Dead franchise, Faith No More's Mike Patton was involved in the first game, and who can forget the brilliance of The Orange Box Soundtrack.
Tale of Monkey Island Promotional Contest
Posted @ 6:00 PM, July 27 2009, By: BlueWolf72 In Steam Games

So the last "key" contest was fun and while many of you took the time to play I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart.  So I got some new keys today and this time it will be for:

The game you can win is "Season 1 of Tales of Monkey Island". Still not sure what you can get your swords on check the video out here.  Tales of Monkey Island, an all new adventure set in the highly celebrated Monkey Island universe. Spend time with Guybrush Threepwood and all his pals for the full 1st season of Tales of Monkey Island.

Contest:

The contest I have in mind is very simple.  Tell us why you want this game in a odd and funny way.  Write a sentence of 26 words where the words begin with the 26 letters of the alphabet in order. Again 2 keys to give away, contest ends tomorrow evening so good luck. Let the fun begin!

Boycotter "invented" Spitter

That's right, you read correctly. One of the main Left 4 Dead 2 boycotters supposedly invented the Spitter infected in Left 4 Dead 2, months before it was shown at Comic Con.

Eurogamer.net reports on the story where it turns out that Walking_Target posted on the Steam forums back in May:
Concept: an SI capable of lobbing a fair size glob of 'saliva' on an arcing path; at maximum (45* angle) on flat terrain, this glob of spit would travel roughly the same distance as a smoker's tongue. Obviously, if the spitter has a better vantage point they can lob their projectile a fair distance further.
Walking_Target, to be fair, does acknowledge that the idea wasn't necessarily stolen by Valve in a Steam Community Announcement. To read the full story, head on over to Eurogamer.net.

What's New Interview

The guys over at Game Trailers have posted a short interview with Chet Faliszek all about what's good and new with Left 4 Dead 2.

This includes the new Swamp campaign, the new weapons and more

Left 4 Dead 2 To Feature Bulletproof Zombies
Posted @ 3:51 AM, July 24 2009, By: DigiQ8 In Left 4 Dead 2

It seems The Parish campaign will feature another uncommon-common infected. The riot police wearing full bulletproof vests zombies.
These kevlar wearing infected can only be killed from behind, making it especially difficult if two are bearing down on your character. A quick melee hit will stun them, even knocking them down and exposing their posteriors. But as they charge you, unloading a full clip on their fronts will essentially do nothing.
