Halflife2.net Plays Beta of Berimbau Mod
Posted @ 7:52 PM, January 30 2009, By: Hectic Glenn In Mods
This week, we've been lucky enough for the Ninja Workshop team to have given us access to their new closed beta build of their mod Berimbau. Berimbau is a multiplayer Source engine mod featuring fierce sword duels in a retro-future universe. The game features an open sword combat system that allows for creative use of combos, counter-attacks, and parries. This combat system encourages players to develop attack patterns and strategies to defeat their opponents, rather than random “knife-fight” melee combat.
Playing together over the past few days has been great to see a mod in it's relative infancy as it's core features are put into place. This mod offers a unique experience, whereby you must co-ordinate strings of attacks, as well as blocks & parries. Dodging and stance changes are all important, and this will be a mod to look out for in the future. Duels can be fast and frantic or controlled and methodical, multi duels will add to the chaos once introduced. Keep up to date with the ninjaworkshop team on their website, and I'm sure they will be looking for support in the ModDB MOTY competition if this looks up your street!

Blog post mentions that scout update is nearly done and there is only some artwork left to do. In addition Robin responds to few community questions such as: "When's the next update going to be out?" or "Why should I use Natascha? And doesn't she only do 66% damage, not 75%?".

Zeno Clash Coming to Steam (On Source Engine)
Posted @ 10:25 AM, January 24 2009, By: Hectic Glenn In Steam Games

What is Zeno Clash I hear you exclaim! Well it's a new game developed by ACE Team, an independent video game developer based in Santiago, Chile. Zeno Clash is an action/fighting game set in a punk fantasy world using the Source engine. The game looks to have an extremely unique art direction with an odd mixture of first person fighting which looks like good fun. Zeno Clash is a story driven game that uniquely blends the first person genre with the fighting game genre. Players will play the role of Ghat, the son of an impressive hermaphrodite creature called Father-Mother, whose children form the most powerful clan in the city of Halstedom. Ghat must escape from his family and start an incredible journey with his female companion Deadra, who will aid him in the dangerous lands of Zenozoik. Zeno Clash will be released on Steam and Direct2Drive this Spring and ACE Team are in the process of identifying a retail publisher. The full game upon release will only be $20! Check out the official Zeno Clash website, and the official press release for ZC. Even though these guys have only recently made an appearance, ModDB have already grabbed a word with a developer from ACE Team for a short interview about their upcoming release. We will keep you posted.
