ValveCommunity.net Launched
Posted @ 3:37 PM, December 31 2008, By: Ennui In Community, News

Phillip Marlowe, well known in the Half-Life community for his site PlanetPhillip and his work on Podcast 17 has just launched a brand new site called ValveCommunity.net with the goal of better uniting the Valve fan community. The site catalogs Valve-related websites, covering anything from editing to news, in a simple database. From their "About" section:
Each website page contains a basic screenshot, a brief and factual description, a direct text link, a community rating, a list of games it covers, descriptive tags and a full length screenshot
The site is looking pretty slick, and it's a safe bet that there are plenty of sites listed that you've never heard of before, so head on over and check it out. Be sure to register and vote 5 stars for Halflife2.net (you know you love us) and submit any sites you know of that aren't listed. Oh, and: Happy New Years!

Furthermore it has been revealed that the Dead Air and Death Toll campaigns will be fitted out with the Versus mode soon and that the SDK for the PC version will be made available shortly.

St-EA-m: Thoughts
Posted @ 12:11 PM, December 22 2008, By: Evo In Editorials

EA has just arrived on Steam in a big way with Spore, Warhammer Online and Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 to mention just a few of the big names that have taken residence on Steam. However I want to take a bit of a look beyond the obvious fan boy reaction about how great this is, and yet not get lost in the cynical view that this is the death of Steam. Hopefully this will provide you with a balanced look on how this latest development may impact on Steam (and in turn Valve), EA and maybe some other topics. If you wish to learn more, then read on. Insurgency News Update
Posted @ 12:05 PM, December 22 2008, By: Hectic Glenn In Mods

The insurgency team have been busy working on their next version, the upcoming 'Insurgency Beta 3'. We haven't heard much news from them as of recent, but they have provided a couple of new screenshots of their new USMC playermodels which can be seen below.
We're currently in the process of creating 4 totally new character models for each team. They are being created with customization in mind, so that they can use a variety of accessories.
Amongst other things, the team have put together a short video showing their recent improvement on player sounds, and showing off their new SKS model. See the video here.

Valve Are Aware of the Europe Prices Issue
Posted @ 6:47 PM, December 20 2008, By: DigiQ8 In Steam, Steam Games

SteamFriends had a chat with Valve's Mike D. about the the difference of pricing for the European Union. He said that they are aware of this issue and they are fixing it.
Yes, we agree that some of the prices for third party products are higher then what you can find locally but we are working to fix that.
I got a feeling that they'll fix this issue in the upcoming months, hopefully.
